a trip [Gezi] at the Bethanien / repetition

Bethanien’da bir Gezi / tekerrür

During the artist residency, in the Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien, where I have been living and working, I came across traces of the works I made in the immediate aftermath of the Gezi Protest in 2014. These traces made me think again about the Gezi protest again in 2024 and the history of the Bethanien building, which has a similar political history. In the process, part of the 100-year-old ceiling of my studio collapsed. 100 years, repetitions and history. Following these traces, I wanted to make a monumental sculpture referencing these repetitions. This sculpture turned into an installation consisting of a tree metaphor that started the Gezi protest and sounds I collected from Bethanien.
