what’s art

video, 2016

Does something esthetic concern us only because it is beautiful and attractive or does it concern us because it pushes us to question? In this rhymed piece of writing, the artist aligns the questions in a rhyme and aims to question art and makes others question it. In this work, the rhyme speeds up and repeats and gets deformed. However you ask it, it is the same question is encountered; “what is art?”. Questioning starts with what is art; to question what is boring or eating the blissful cake and now many people only want to eat the cake. The cake is no longer an attraction to start the questioning; maybe it has become the art itself. The aim here is to make the viewer ask this; “do I choose to question while I encounter an artwork” or “do I want the cake”?
